The Production Process of Stone Paper

Stone paper, also known as rock paper, is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional paper made primarily from calcium carbonate and a small amount of resin. Its production process is innovative and sustainable, involving the following steps:

Raw Material Preparation

The primary ingredient, calcium carbonate, is derived from limestone or marble waste. The material is crushed into a fine powder, ensuring a uniform and smooth texture.

Blending with Resin

The calcium carbonate powder is mixed with a small proportion of non-toxic resin, such as polyethylene. This combination acts as a binding agent, creating a dough-like material.

Extrusion

The mixture is fed into an extruder, where it is heated and melted. The molten material is then pressed through rollers to form thin sheets. The thickness and texture of the sheets can be adjusted according to specific requirements.

Cooling and Cutting

The sheets are cooled and solidified, then cut into the desired sizes for various applications, such as notebooks, packaging, or posters.

Surface Treatment

Optional coatings or treatments can be applied to enhance the paper’s printability, durability, or water resistance.

Stone paper production avoids deforestation, consumes less water, and generates minimal pollution, making it a sustainable choice for modern needs.
