Stone Paper: Superior Performance Expands Application Boundaries

Beyond its environmental merits, stone paper boasts outstanding physical properties that outperform traditional paper and plastic, opening up diverse application scenarios. Its mechanical performance is particularly notable—with high tensile strength and tear resistance, especially in the transverse direction, surpassing ordinary offset paper. The addition of modified calcium carbonate ensures uniform material structure, making it resistant to folding and deformation, which is essential for durable packaging and outdoor products.

Water resistance is a core advantage of stone paper. Unlike wood pulp paper that disintegrates when soaked, stone paper maintains structural integrity after hours of immersion in room temperature water, thanks to the absence of hydrophilic cellulose. This property makes it suitable for humid environments such as marine transportation, outdoor signs, and bathroom supplies. Additionally, it exhibits excellent flame retardancy, mold resistance, and UV resistance, addressing the shortcomings of traditional paper in harsh conditions.

In terms of optical performance, stone paper meets high-end printing requirements with a whiteness of over 92% (per ISO2470 standard) and high surface gloss. It supports various printing methods including offset, digital, and flexographic printing, delivering clear, vibrant images for brochures, labels, and high-end albums. For food packaging, its non-toxic and odorless characteristics comply with food contact material standards, while its oil resistance prevents contamination from greasy products.

Product diversification further enhances its applicability. PE-based stone paper, accounting for 68% of the market, is cost-effective for daily packaging; PP-based variants offer high temperature resistance for food containers; and specialty types such as flame-retardant and antibacterial stone paper cater to industrial and medical needs. These performance advantages have attracted cooperation from global brands like Facebook and Mercedes-Benz, which use customized stone paper products to fulfill their environmental commitments.
