Applicability and Weather Resistance of Stone Paper in Outdoor Advertising Scenarios

The applicability of stone paper in outdoor advertising or scenarios with long – term exposure to sunlight depends on its weather resistance.

Stone paper is mainly composed of calcium carbonate and a small amount of polymers. In terms of weather resistance, it has certain advantages. Calcium carbonate, as a major component, endows stone paper with relatively good stability. When exposed to sunlight, it is less likely to yellow or degrade rapidly compared to traditional paper. The polymers in stone paper also contribute to its durability by providing a certain degree of toughness and protection.

However, it’s not without limitations. Prolonged exposure to strong ultraviolet (UV) rays in sunlight can gradually break down the polymers in stone paper over time. Although the degradation rate is slower than that of traditional paper, after a long – term outdoor placement, the mechanical properties of stone paper may still decline, such as becoming more brittle and prone to cracking.

In general, for short – to medium – term outdoor advertising (usually within 1 – 2 years), stone paper can be a suitable choice due to its relatively good initial weather resistance and eco – friendly nature. But for applications that require extremely long – term exposure to sunlight (more than 5 years), additional UV – resistant coatings or protective measures may be needed to enhance its durability and maintain its performance.
